About OUR:HOUSE

OUR:HOUSE is a unique entertainment company providing the very best in clubbing events and dance parties in New Zealand. Beginning in 2000, OUR:HOUSE began as a monthly clubnight at Bed nightclub on K’Rd in Auckland. The very first resident DJs were Tim Phin, Greg Churchill, Emerson Todd and Angela Fisken. Soon after these parties began, they outgrew the smaller clubs, and moved into the infamous (and now, sadly, closed) Coast Bar. It was around this time that the popularity of the OUR:HOUSE parties really went mad! Anyone who ever went to one of those Coast Bar gigs laments the loss of that iconic venue – with its dodgy floor that flexed under the weight of the crowd, and the equally dodgy elevator ride to and from the top floor bar.

As word of mouth spread and the parties became ever more popular, the OUR:HOUSE team sought a larger venue with multiple rooms in order to diversify the acts and cater for a larger audience. And so began the era of OUR:HOUSE at the St James Theatre on Queen St, Auckland. An enormous old cinema complex, this grand old heritage venue boasted several completely separate areas for different styles of dance music (deep house, electro, breaks, drum n bass), and over 3000 people could attend these events. This was the start of a party revolution in New Zealand. OUR:HOUSE stood out from the crowd with their dedication to putting on more than just music – with exceptional visuals, lighting and theming designed to give the partygoer a full-on dance experience. Over the past 8 years, a number of sub-brands have been developed under the wider OUR:HOUSE umbrella: Nite Life, First Class, Club Unity, Winter Wonderland, Extravaganza, and Summer:fest. There are now 5+ large-scale OUR:HOUSE events annually, ranging in scale from 1500 people to 6000.

The OUR:HOUSE team are committed to bringing the absolute best international artists and DJs to this corner of the world. Some of the artists who have graced the OUR:HOUSE stage include: Kaskade, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, DJ Sneak, Sandy Riviera, Tom Middleton, Andy Cadwell, Mark Doyle, Mateo & Matos, Deep Swing, Jay-J, Jon Pearn, Cabin Crew, Dirty South, Princess Superstar, Seany B, Ivan Gough (TV Rock), Vandalism, Klaas, Joey Negro and many more. Numerous top-billing kiwi acts have appeared also: Shapeshifter, Concord Dawn, Minuit – and of course just about every well known local DJ as well.

In addition to the parties, OUR:HOUSE founder Tim Phin also released annual compilations under the OUR:HOUSE banner from 2001 to 2008, each featuring the hottest tunes of that year. The resulting collection of albums demonstrates the evolution of house music over that time – from melodic, funky soulful styles of 2001 to the outrageous floor-stomping electro numbers from 2008 – the OUR:HOUSE collection is a superb anthology of dance floor classics.

In 2009, OUR:HOUSE is still evolving and growing. With a number of big projects in the pipeline, and some heavy duty acts signed up to perform this year, watch this space for more dance floor craziness!
